Washed Up: A Wasted Talent Film — Sun Bum

  |   SLUSH STAFF

From Wasted Talent's Desk:

We were Washed Up. It was time to leave Tokyo. Oasis blares unbelievably loudly in the smoky bar, as we order more Highballs and Arthur queues Serge Gainsborough. Our veins are full of Umeshu Soda and jetlag from Europe is in our favour. We are anything but tired. No Parents. No Vegetables. No Bedtime.

Now there are two ways to leave Tokyo, one is via Narita Airport and the other is via Haneda. Never, ever leave Tokyo via Narita. And never, ever fly Jetstar. And never ever, leave for your Jetstar flight from Narita after about 2 hours sleep after Juliano’s bar.

And to Hokkaido we made it. After a slew of cancelled flights, we secured our Toyota Hiace and set sail for the side, back and resort country of Japan’s wonderful northern most island. The resulting short film is visual fragments for our time in Japan; 13 days of convenience store dieting, “how much is that in euros”, the filthiest van imaginable, merch, soft shell crabs, Umeshu Sodas, Yakuza Onsens, rival crews, indoor smoking, dam drops, van tows, the nicest crew going, night rides, Smirnoff Ices, hiking, artistic inspiration, egg sandwiches and yet above all; a deep love of Snowboarding.

This is Washed Up. See more here at Sun Bum's blog!
